2025.10.26 AIVORY
From AI Butler to Code Compliance Tool What started as a simple development pipeline somehow became the most complex project I’ve ever built. AIVory began life as an internal tool – just a way to streamline some repetitive coding tasks. But then we added a productivity feature here, a communication helper there, and before we knew it, we had something entirely different on our hands. The Accidental Evolution I remember the exact moment everything clicked with the first version.
2025.10.21 FLEXIBLE SOLIDITY
When boredom leads to better tools I was deep into AIVory development, hit a wall, and needed a mental break. Some people go for walks. I apparently build JetBrains plugins. This wasn’t new territory for me – I’d already built Scipio ERP Integration, Flexible FreeMarker, Magnolia CMS Integration, consulted on Cody AI, and created the Rookout plugin. Plugin development had become my preferred form of procrastination. I’ve always been fascinated by blockchain technology from a purely technical perspective.
2024.08.22 START/UP
My Book about the German Startup Scene of the early 2000s I wrote Start/Up a decade after my own experiences in the German startup scene of the early 2000s. It was a time of great change and upheaval, and one that had a profound impact on my life and career. My first startup, “Bazaaria,” was a disaster, with a flawed business model that quickly drained my resources. I remember the feelings of powerlessness and shame that came with it, and the struggle to come to terms with my own limitations.
2024.08.22 SCIPIO ERP
A Modern Open Ecommerce System After contributing to Apache OFBiz for over a decade, we decided to create our own product. Our clients appreciated OFBiz’s architecture but found the system outdated and lacking professional support. We envisioned a modernized system with enhanced applications, a new rendering system, fresh themes, and bug fixes. The OFBiz community was stagnant and unwelcoming, prompting us to forge our own path. At Ilscipio, we developed Scipio ERP and released it on GitHub in 2014.
2024.08.22 JETBRAINS
JetBrains Plugin Development I’ve always been passionate about making development easier and more efficient. That’s why I’ve developed a range of JetBrains plugins to streamline workflows and boost productivity. From Scipio ERP integration to Flexible FreeMarker and Magnolia CMS integration, my plugins are designed to make development easier and more enjoyable. Scipio ERP Integration I remember the early days of working with Scipio ERP. It was a powerful tool, but it needed a more streamlined development process.
2024.08.22 APACHE OFBIZ
My Journey with Apache OFBiz I started working with Apache OFBiz in 2008 when I joined Mutschler Ventures. We were searching for flexible ecommerce systems, and I was tasked with analyzing market leaders across Europe. This led me to discover Hybris, Intershop, various PHP-based systems, and Apache OFBiz. I was immediately drawn to OFBiz’s architecture, and we soon began developing our own products on it, including “brandsparadise.de,” an online factory outlet center.
2010.01.01 TRESCOM
A Jurassic Park Community Jurassic Park: Trespasser was a computer game that was ground breaking for its time. Production began in between Jurassic Park and The lost world and the Jurassic Park franchise was at its peak. Needless to say, media coverage of the game was huge. When the first little information leaked, people went crazy: a dinosaur filled island, free exploration, high end 3d graphics way ahead of its time, revolutionary physics engine, artificial intelligence, and an awesome soundtrack by Bill Brown.
2010.01.01 TOWNERS
A sim city clone! Right after Chopper, it took me a few months before I would get back into mobile game development again. It wasn’t so much that I wasn’t coding during those days (I was still spending lots of my spare time developing other projects), but rather that I felt extremely disappointed with the end-result that was Chopper. Though Chopper itself looked good and it was not bad at all gaming-wise, it still felt incomplete and overall unsatisfactory to me.
2010.01.01 CHOPPER
Shoot-em up at its best! During my college years (09/2004 – 05/2007) I was heavily into Game development. I had previously been spending a lot of time running a rather successful gaming community (TresCom) and gotten to know several highly talented people. Up until then I always wanted to become a game developer myself and figured that after a 3 years of business administration, I would instantly have the opportunity to follow that career path.
2008.01.01 BROWSEO
See the web like search engines do! Back in 2008, SEO was this mysterious black art. Web developers spent hours tweaking HTML and meta tags, essentially flying blind. How do you know if your Flash navigation is helping or hurting rankings? What does Google actually see when it crawls your site? That’s where Browseo came in – a browser that showed you the web exactly like search engines see it.
